We offer dance classes for students whether beginner or advanced in the fun and easy social Latin dances, like Salsa, Bachata, Cumbia and Merengue. Salsa dance originates in Cuba, combining the influences of many Latin and Afro-Carribean dances. It is recognized by its pattern of dancing 6 beats over 8 counts and many turns. Because of its fun and easy rhythm it is now danced globally.
Bachata, originally from the Dominican Republic, is known for its’ characteristic 3 steps and a tap. The Cumbia, originally from Columbia, is now danced throughout Latin America and is especially popular in El Paso, Texas where you will surely be asked to dance!
The Merengue, also from the Dominican Republic, is a very popular dance in El Paso. It is comprised of a series of small steps and turns. All four dance styles are offered in our group Latin classes.
These are 6-8 week sessions offered in partnership with the Professional and Public Programs at The University of Texas at El Paso. No experience or partners are needed for these sessions, only a willingness to learn! You will make friends, exercise, and learn how to move on the dance floor, plus learn to dance El Paso style!
